John Nash
John Nash was born in 1752 in London, and died on May 13, 1835. Nash was trained by Sir Robert Taylor to be an urban architect. After going bankrupt in 1783, he left London to design country houses until he had re-ammased his money by the 1890's. Upon his return to London, he teamed up with landscape gardener Humphry Repton. In 1798 he was employed by the Prince of Wales (the current Regent). Nash acquired a considerable amount of money, and built for himself East Cowes Castle (1798), which had much influence in the early Gothic Revival period in London and in Paris and Vienna. Nash's plan for Regent Street is laid out more fully on the home page, and links from there.
