Working at ECF

ECF offers a generous benefits package to its eligible employees that includes:

Medical and Dental
The Oxford Freedom medical plan and Aetna US Healthcare dental plan are available to all employees and their families, including eligible same-sex domestic partners. The medical plan allows employees to utilize both in-network and out-of-network physicians. The dental plan provides a choice between a group dental maintenance organization and traditional fee-for-service treatment with out-of-network dentists.

Flexible Spending Accounts
The flexible spending account program allows eligible employees to pay for some non-reimbursed dependent care of health care expenses with pre-tax dollars. The enrollment period occurs every summer, but employees with eligible family status changes may enroll through the plan year.

Life Insurance
The cost of a life insurance policy for employees is paid for by the school. The amount of coverage is equal to the employee’s base salary. The premium cost paid by the school may be taxable to the employee.

Short-Term Disability Insurance
If an illness prevents an employee from working for more than 7 consecutive days, the employee may be entitled to receive short-term disability benefits as required by state law. The school also provides short-term disability benefits of up to 90 days (including accrued sick days) for employees who are half-time or greater and who have completed one year of service.

Long-Term Disability Insurance
The school maintains long-term disability insurance that covers situations in which an employee is disabled for more than 90 days as a result of a covered injury or illness. Eligible employees may receive a portion of their salary, up to a monthly maximum benefit. All employees who are half-time or greater and who have completed one year of service are eligible for this insurance.

Academic Federal Credit Union
ECF is affiliated with the Academic Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative. The credit union offers a wide variety of savings and loan plans with convenience of having money automatically deducted from paychecks.

Transit Voucher Program
All regular employees are eligible to participate in the government-sponsored Transit Voucher Program. The program helps employees save money on commuting expenses through salary reduction on a pre-tax basis. The enrollment period is during the month of October.

Retirement
ECF offers a Defined Contribution Retirement Plan, 403(b) to all eligible employees. The plan is administered by the Teachers Insurance Annuity Association and the College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF). All employees may voluntarily elect to open a Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA) account with TIAA-CREF upon employment. A GSRA is an individual-owned tax-deferred annuity.
