ECF Traditions

Traditions come in all sizes and shapes at Ethical Culture Fieldston School, some tied to the curriculum and others not, but all are eagerly anticipated.

There is the Fieldston Lower fall harvest festival (gallery), and Ethical Culture¹s annual participation in the Penny Harvest and the winter coat drive. There are special rituals for the seniors, including Color Wars. New traditions spring up and become absorbed into the culture if they prove their worth, like the Mousetrap Car Race at Fieldston Middle and the spring fashion show Fieldston Upper. (Advanced art students model amazingly creative clothing they have made of non-clothing materials like bubble wrap or crushed soda cans, to the cheers of their classmates.)

But the biggest tradition of all is Founder's Day, where Ethical Culture, Fieldston Lower and Fieldston students vie in singing their school songs the loudest.
