Community Service

At ECF, community service is a longstanding tradition, woven into the fabric, history, and mission of the school. From the youngest to the oldest, students engage in age-appropriate ways of giving back.

At Ethical Culture, students participate in activities like the annual Penny Harvest drive and the winter coat drive. At Fieldston Lower, after-school students brighten the day for residents at places like the Methodist Church Home for the Aged with their songs and dances. At Fieldston Upper, students must complete a minimum of 60 hours of documented community service earned either through individual volunteer activities or special elective courses. To support their efforts, Fieldston's Upper community service and service-learning program, considered a model by other schools across the country, supports hundreds of individual internship opportunities each year.
