ECF Libraries

“I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.” —-Jorge Luis Borges

“You must live feverishly in a library.” —Ray Bradbury

At ECF, students are encouraged to develop a lifelong appreciation of reading and thoughtful and critical approach to books and media. They learn age-appropriate research and study skills so they can find the resources they need, whether digital or print. Our libraries provide key support in all those goals. They are also great places to read and study, and pursue research.

The separate libraries at Ethical Culture, Fieldston Lower and the Tate Library at Fieldston are in many ways the heart of the school. Run by a knowledgeable and experienced staff, they offer over well over 80,000 book titles and a wealth of audiovisual materials, print periodicals, as well as computerized access to a large number of periodicals, and a wide variety of online databases. Visit their pages and learn more about their philosophy, catalogs, and resources.
