Paris D-Band 2004

The Paris foreigners know is one of beauty, romance, commerce, and culture. When visiting the city, many tourists, and even inhabitants come to see the constructions around them as mere aesthetic properties. They see their magnitude and importance, and even though they may read the small histories in the travel guides as they are taken by the view, what they neglect to know, is what the buildings in this City really represent. Paris is a city in which every construction is a reaction to the political situation of the time it was built. Every design and detail were not just aesthetic, but had a deeper meaning of power that the builder wanted to communicate to the inhabitants. Paris is a city in which every façade has meaning that relates to the political, cultural and economic state of the glorious capital of France.
