Paris H-Band 2004:

The Birth of Modern Europe

The city of Paris was the heart of a nation. The politics, arts, and economy of France were dependent on the fate of this single city. More than a collection of people, Paris was a symbol of power and pride. As France would grow, so would Paris, and as Paris grew, so did France. French art and music was centered inside the boundaries of Paris, the city itself an organic statue, forever adapting. The bourgeois and aristocracy of France stayed within the bounds of the city, bringing with them the wealth needed to turn Paris into the capitol of western europe. The rulers of Paris were the rulers of France, as one could not control the nation without living inside one of Paris’ gaudy castles, be it Versailles or la Louvre, but always aware of the ficke nature of the city, as the Parisians would make the final conclusions as to who would occupy the palace. The city lived and it grew, the people resilient to tragedy and proficient in the art of change.
