Eugene Delacroix
Born in 1789,
Eugene Delacroix is considered one of the most celebrated painters of the French
Romantic Movement. Delacroix was a great colorist, whose unique style was influenced
by Géricault while studying with him in Guérin's studio, as well
as the Venetian school and the painters Rubens, Michelangelo, and Veronese.6
His famous works include The Bark of Dante, 1822, Women of Algiers, 1834, Entrance
of the Crusaders into Constantinople, 1841, Self-Portrait, 1835-37, The Lion Hunt,
1861.7
