Wagner's Postal Savings Bank:

In his expressive use of industrial materials, Otto Wagner gave form to his ideas of an architecture of his time.  Created as an institution for "the people", the Postal Savings Bank was situated along the Ringstrasse.  However, unlike its surrounding buildings, the Postal Savings Bank does not borrow from any historical style.  Its materials and detailing are representative of industrialization, including the use of concrete, glass, and aluminum.  Its ornamentation comes from the articulation of its construction details.  The building is an example of the elegant expression of functionality.
