Spanish
Spanish class at Fieldston Lower is all about fun and learning at the same time. Students practice vocabulary and grammar by recreating everyday life activities like going to a restaurant, visiting the doctor, or making full use of their passports in an imaginary trip around the world. The motto of the program is “if you can touch it, you can say it.” All activities are designed to encourage conversational skills. Singing, puppets, games, short stories, and even cooking are part of the program. But Spanish is more than a language, is also a wealth of cultures and customs represented through different activities. El Día de los Muertos around Halloween or the celebration of Cinco de Mayo at an outdoor festival at the end of the year are some of the examples where the language comes alive.
