Eagle TV Season 4 Show #1
The first show of the 2010-11 season was entirely filmed and edited by Fieldston Upper students in the broadcast journalism course.

Part 1. October was Latino Heritage Month, and among the celebrations held at Fieldston Upper was an assembly showcasing Latino culture—with music, dance, poetry, and more, including a reading by author Michele Carlo from her short story collection, Fish Out of Agua. In other assembly news, this year’s first was a screening of Crude Independence, a documentary film on oil drilling in the U.S. by alumnus Noah Hutton ’05.

Part 2. Fieldston Upper’s elected student government, formerly known as the Principal’s Advisory Committee (PAC), has a new name: Fieldston Student Government (FSG). With the change in name come a slew of new plans for increased student and faculty involvement. Over in the middle school, 6th graders talk about the exciting and challenging transition from elementary school, and in a piece filmed at the end of the 2009-2010 school-year, 8th graders reflect on how they feel about moving up to the high school.

Part 3. At the pep rally, students danced, chanted, and sported wacky costumes in this fun-filled run-up to Homecoming. And Homecoming itself was a tremendous success—check out the highlights and interviews with the victorious varsity players and coaches from field hockey, football, volleyball, and girls and boys soccer.

Part 4. At Ethical Culture and Fieldston Lower, students learned about the metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly. And at the Fieldston Upper club fair, students explored their options and signed up for such long-standing clubs as The Fieldston News, and newcomers like the meditation club.

Eagle TV Season 3 - Show #3
The third show of the 2009-10 season is the third to be entirely filmed and edited by Fieldston Upper students in the broadcast journalism course.

Part One
Fieldston Upper students took part in a lively debate during a Modified Awareness Day on the war in Afghanistan. Foreign Language Week showcased the traditions and cultures behind the languages studied in the upper school, through workshops, an assembly, and other special events.

Part Two
The Fieldston Middle boys basketball team went undefeated this year, thanks to great teamwork and coaching. In the film lab, 7th grade English students set poems to image, audio, and video as part of the poetry interpretation project. And Fieldston Lower ballroom dancing students stepped to cha-cha, swing, waltz, and tango rhythms.

Part Three
An abundance of talent was on display at Fieldston Lower Fun Night, as students danced, sang, juggled, played the piano, performed magic tricks, and more.

Part Four
Seventh graders performed a student adaptation of the book Seedfolks, which focuses on a community garden. And there were lots of laughs at the ever-popular Fieldston Upper spelling bee assembly. We conclude with the student question: Which Olympic sport would you most like to play?

Eagle TV Season 3 - Show #2

The second show of the 2009-10 season is the second to be entirely filmed and edited by Fieldston Upper students in the broadcast journalism course.

Part One
Upper school students walked for water, carrying jerry cans around the athletic track to raise money for and awareness of the water crisis in Africa. Cole Marcoux, a Fieldston senior, was invited to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas in January, and his achievements were an inspiration to the community.

Part Two
In the middle school, the boys and girls basketball teams prepared and set goals for the winter season. Also in the middle school, 8th grade science students constructed mouse trap race cars as part of their unit on motion and force. Meanwhile, at Fieldston Lower, the entire community gathered for the Thanksgiving assembly to celebrate through song and watch the 4th grade play. Back at the upper school, the gay-straight alliance held a fish bowl discussion on sexual orientation.

Part Three
Upper school visual art students created public art, and the archway leading to the quad features a politically-charged installation on the meaning of hands. Also at the upper school, students put on a musical production of Big Love in the auditorium, and the performers’ extensive preparation paid off. We conclude with the Student Question: What are your New Year’s resolutions?

Eagle TV Season 3 - Show #1

The inaugural show of the 2009-10 season is the first to be filmed and edited by Fieldston Upper students in the broadcast journalism course.

Part One
Form IV’s annual fall trip to Boston reinforces the American history and literature tenth graders study. Over the summer, as part of a community service project, several Fieldston Upper students traveled farther afield—to Malawi, Africa—to help build a school.

Part Two
As part of their orientation, sixth graders enjoyed time at Clearpool, where they participated in team-building activities designed to lay a foundation of trust and communication for their first year in the middle school. In October, Fieldston Middle hosted the annual Hilltop Diversity Conference, where students gathered with their peers from Horace Mann and Riverdale to discuss issues of diversity. Meanwhile, at Fieldston Lower, our youngest students introduce the new teachers in their division.

Part Three
The Fieldston Lower Harvest Festival captures the joy of the season through song, music, and artwork. From the ninth graders: a photo montage of their trip to Indian Head at the start of classes. Debate, mock trial, zombie movies, and more—the Fieldston Upper club fair offered something for everyone. School spirit ran high at this year’s pep rally, on the eve of Homecoming. We conclude with the Student Question: What risks are you going to take this year?
