The HOS search committee is pleased to share the position statement and description for our next head of school. A culmination of several months of work, this document reflects the collective goals, hopes, and ideals shared by our wide community.  Earlier in the year, our search consultants visited ECF and met with over 100 individuals, all ECF stakeholders, having in-depth conversations about the state of the school and the qualities needed in our next leader. In addition to the live meetings held on our campuses, a community-wide electronic survey gathered broad input from many different constituencies.

The search process for the new head of school is now officially underway, as Laura Jacobs Blankfein '71 and Tracy Chutorian Semler '82, co-chairs of the board of trustees, recently announced the composition of the search committee, chaired by Paul Schnell '72, parent of a recent Fieldston graduate and an Ethical Culture 5th grader, and consisting entirely of trustees. The committee brings multiple perspectives from the ECF community and in an effort to bring many new voices into the process, 10 out of 15 members of the new search committee did not serve on the last head of school search; the only "repeats" are members of the executive committee of the board.

After interviewing several leading search firms, our executive committee of the board of trustees has selected Carney Sandoe to assist us in the search for our next head of school.
