ECF is excited to announce the creation of the Progressive Teaching Institute (PTI), a three-day workshop to take place at the end of August 2012 that will cover a variety of topics and issues related to progressive education, with a focus on teaching and learning in the classroom. The PTI will include demonstration teaching exercises, presentations and discussions, interactive workshops, guest speakers, and simulations. It will examine the history of Fieldston, the roots of progressive education, what progressive education means in the 21st century, student assessment, and other topics. This professional development initiative will introduce new faculty to the mission and educational program at ECF, while offering an opportunity for experienced teachers to reflect about progressive pedagogy and practice.
