Fieldston Middle and Upper visual arts teacher Stefanie Smith took students in her upper-school architecture class on a tour of the Tate Library to get an inside look at the progress of the renovation.

The tour--led by ECFS's manager of operations, Teddy O'Rourke, and construction-site managers--allowed students to see up close the framework of the building and the many steps it takes to rebuild a preserved structure. The group had the opportunity to examine the full floor plan of the library, including the initial framing of the space, while seeing construction work take place in real time.

Upon returning to the classroom, students took a deeper dive into the construction plans to learn about the intricacies of rebuilding a complex structure and the various phases of construction.
