Carnivals and Celebrations: Homecoming 2018

The first major community-wide celebration of the year took place this past Saturday, October 20, as hundreds of parents, alumni, students, faculty, and staff gathered to celebrate the school and our athletes.

The day started off with the grand reopening of the Tate Library. This project has preserved the best elements of the library while introducing innovative space and programming to support the school's mission well into the 21st century — and our community was thrilled to tour it for the first time.

Afterward, joy and laughter rang out on the lower field as hundreds of ECFS families participated in the Carnival. There were bouncy houses, pumpkin decorating, face painting, sand art, a coat drive, seed planting, and plenty of treats.

We also welcomed back more than 150 alumni and their families to the Alumni Corner, staffed by the Fieldston Alumni Network Leadership Committee. They handed out t-shirts and other fun swag items while playing each other in the bean bag toss.

Of course, our Eagle athletes played hard throughout the day:

  • Varsity Girls Field Hockey took on Hackley in one of the early matches today, losing 0–3.

  • Varsity Boys Soccer played Hackley, taking the win with a score of 2–1.

  • Tennis lost to Riverdale today in six doubles matches.

  • Varsity Football capped off the day with a tight win against Pingry, 27–26.

  • Coed Varsity Water Polo lost 13–8 to Horace Mann.

  • Varsity Volleyball won 3–1 again Calhoun.

  • Girls Varsity Soccer lost 2–1 in overtime to Hackley.

  • Our student percussion ensemble also performed, helping to keep both athletes and spectators in good spirits.

Thank you to all the Eagles who came out to celebrate the Ethical Culture Fieldston School community!
