Mindfulness Initiative

Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.”
Jon Kabat-Zinn

Mindfulness, compassion, and empathy are cornerstones of an ethical life; therefore, mindfulness education and practice lie at the heart of an ethical education. To know the nature of one's mind takes skill and courage and is essential to being an effective leader. Mindfulness education and practice are tools to raise our collective actions beyond mere reactions and into consciousness. In this, the information age, we live at an ever-increasing fast pace and with mounting pressures. The Fieldston Mindfulness Initiative seeks to create substantive and positive change for the entire ECFS community.
