Fieldston Percussion


PERCUSSION

A fun, fully hands-on program designed to strengthen performance skills and master rhythmic concepts on drums and mallet percussion. Classes and small group lessons will focus on rhythmic analyses, technical development, performance skills, setting and meeting personal goals, composition for percussion ensemble, and beyond.

Scott is a professional drummer who considers teaching to be a vital part of his career, and has been on the faculty at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School since 1992, building the program to include six percussion ensembles, for which he arranges and conducts. His senior group regularly performs as a drumline at Fieldston sporting events.

Jim Mola.jpg Jim Mola, Director

Jim is on the artist-in-residence faculty at New York City's prestigious music school The Collective. He has accompanied jazz and pop stars such as Tony Bennett and recorded extensively in television, film and commercials. Jim has taught at the University of Bridgeport and travels the country as a clinician. Jim also records extensively as a vocalist and voice over artist for clients such as Family Guy, VH1, and Disney/Pixar. His work is featured in the Smithsonian Museum and the Baseball Hall of Fame, and is heard regularly on radio and television.
