What began as a friendship in a 7th Grade classroo What began as a friendship in a 7th Grade classroom at Fieldston has grown into an award-recognized documentary decades later. Classmates Reiko Hillyer ’87, Eden Wurmfeld ’87, and Tracey Bing ’87 turned a lifelong friendship into “Classroom 4,” an impressive documentary directed by Wurmfeld and executive produced by Bing, Zander Arkin ’87, and Edward Norton. Throughout the film, incarcerated students and students from Lewis & Clark College, where Hillyer is a professor, meet weekly to study the history of crime and punishment in the United States.

“Classroom 4” was named to the 2026 Academy Award Shortlist for Best Documentary Short and is now airing on POV. Congratulations to the Fieldston Class of 1987 on this remarkable achievement!

We kicked off the evening with a senior skate to honor the Class of 2026 before opening the ice to Eagles of all ages! After an evening of skating, students and families warmed up with delicious hot chocolate, caught up with old and new friends, and celebrated the spirit of our community. Thanks for helping us create this new tradition, ECFS!
On Friday, the Varsity Gym was filled with laughte On Friday, the Varsity Gym was filled with laughter as Fieldston Middle students and faculty battled each other in cone flip relays, life-sized tic-tac-toe, and the always-popular three-legged race. It was a fantastic afternoon of friendly competition, all made possible by our incredible faculty and student volunteers!
