This year, Fieldston Upper students brought the “magic” to ECFS in our Spring Musical production of “Pippin!” Over 50 students contributed to a production that was full of classic Broadway energy and disco fever.

Next year, students will take to the stage in “Grease,” journeying to a rock ‘n’ roll world of greasers, cheerleaders, Pink Ladies, and more. We can’t wait to see how they grow as performers and ensemble members as they take on this exciting show!

Students participated in making and glazing mugs for their peers and faculty, stepping into the ceramics studio and creating beautiful art to share with ECFS!

This year, 5th Graders at Ethical Culture became s This year, 5th Graders at Ethical Culture became self-made musical maestros! Using cardboard, computer software, and their own creativity, students built and performed with their own instruments.

The project, a collaboration between the division’s Music and Technology departments, combines hands-on fabrication, technological literacy, and musical improvisation. After conceptualizing and building their cardboard instruments, students practice programming and coding them before eventually performing an improvised solo live in front of their classmates. Engaging with the process as engineers, designers, computer programmers, and performers promotes a sense of agency while challenging students as creative problem solvers at all levels!
