At ECFS, we pride ourselves on instilling in each At ECFS, we pride ourselves on instilling in each graduate a strong inner compass, underpinned by the foundation of progressive, ethical education. Our 2025 Commencement keynote speaker, alumni parent Ken Chenault, knows firsthand the value of leadership grounded in core values, personal integrity, and a clear vision.

Ken’s career includes leading American Express and co-founding OneTen, a nonprofit organization of leading companies and CEOs committed to unlocking career opportunities for talent without four-year degrees — and, as he imparted to our graduates, everything he does is guided by his commitment to service leadership. Speaking to a rapt audience, he reminded them that, “The world’s most pressing challenges don’t need people obsessed with leadership as a goal. They need people committed to service as a way of life. I believe that if you want to lead, you have to be willing to serve.”

Reminiscing on everything from writing heartfelt letters to their future selves as freshmen to how their time in our lower divisions prepared them to lead clubs, teams, and publications, these graduates reminded us what makes the ECFS experience so special.
