The entire ECFS community is asked to join our efforts to honor and advance the mission of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School by making a philanthropic gift and volunteering to encourage others to give.
ECFS relies on its annual fund to meet budgetary needs that tuition does not cover. It takes a collective effort of parents, alumni, faculty/staff, grandparents, trustees, corporate matching gifts, and other friends to ensure that our school continues to deliver the ethical education that defines us.
In addition to the annual fund, our school benefits from planned gifts, the Form VI Legacy Gift, and the annual benefit. We partner with volunteers in the Parent Annual Fund Volunteer Effort (PAVE), the Fieldston Alumni Network (FAN), the annual benefit, and the Form VI gift committees.
ECFS has one of the largest commitments to financial aid in New York City. In the 2018–2019 school year, we offered an unprecedented $14 million to new and returning families. Your gifts ensure that the school will remain fiscally strong, economically diverse, and have the financial resources to be on the cutting edge of progressive education, ethical learning, and academic excellence.
The ECFS Annual Fund is vital to the school’s commitment to academic excellence, progressive education, and ethical learning.
We put your gifts to immediate use supporting these areas of our school community: financial aid, professional development for faculty, educational technology, athletics, curriculum innovation, visual and performing arts, and extracurricular activities.
The 13th Annual ECFS Benefit, The Orange Party, will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Members of the ECFS community will gather to enjoy great food, festive drinks, a "mystery prize wall," silent and live auctions, and the "Big Give" — an opportunity to directly support financial aid.
The Form VI Legacy Gift, a school tradition, is a meaningful way for parents of graduating students to leave their legacy. Each year, a volunteer committee of senior class parents raises money for this gift in honor of their students.
This year we are asking families to make one comprehensive gift which will support both the Class of 2019 Endowment and the Annual Fund. Your gift will be split 75% toward the Endowment and 25% toward the Annual Fund.
The Class of 2019 Endowment, named in honor of the graduating class, is designated for financial aid, affirming the ideals of our school by making an ethical education accessible to all, regardless of socio-economics. Maintaining a robust financial aid program is central to ECFS’s core mission and to the school’s strategic plan.
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Rose Turshen, assistant director of annual giving, at 212-712-6245 or email@example.com.
With careful planning, you and your financial advisor may find that utilizing planned or deferred giving mechanisms will enable your family to make a gift that benefits both you the school. Such vehicles include charitable remainder or lead trusts, retirement funds, and life insurance.
The Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a charitable, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. All bequests are fully deductible for estate tax purposes. Bequests to ECFS will reduce the taxable portion of your estate and decrease federal estate tax liability, while giving the school the full amount of your bequest to use for mission-sustaining endeavors.
You may choose to give a specific bequest of a dollar amount, specific asset, or percentage of your estate.
Planned giving and bequests provide important support for ECFS and our programs.
