GRADES 1 - 7

Coaches will emphasize the importance of basic fundamentals and knowledge of the game. Players will learn and perfect shooting, passing, dribbling, footwork, movement, defense and game play. More importantly, coaches will provide a fun and positive atmosphere for all players.


TYPICAL DAY

9:00-9:15 am Morning meeting
9:15 -10:45 am Stations, Lay-ups, Passing, Dribbling, Rebounding, Jump shots, Defensive drills
10:50 am -12:00 pm Star Drill; 3 Man Weave W/Lay-Ups; 5 Man Weave W/ Lay-Ups
12:00-12:30 pm Lunch
12:30-1:30 pm 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3
1:30-2:30 pm Man to man defense; All position; Box out drill; Zone defense; 2-3 zone; 3-2 zone; 1-3 zone
2:30-3:00 pm Games, Team play

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Gay Hemphill, Director/Coach
Gay has been teaching physical education at Ethical Culture for 20 years. She started playing basketball at age six. She played collegiate basketball at the University of Texas in Austin and led the team to a NCAA National Championship in 1986. She also had the honor of winning a Gold Medal in 1985 while playing for the USA Women's Basketball team. Gay currently plays on a semi-pro basketball team.
